  • App Issues, Zero Support

I’ve had this app for about 6 months, I purchased it so I could display my cameras on my ipad. The cameras refreshed initially, but then stopped refreshing. I removed and reinstalled the app and the cameras refreshed for a few hours but now they are stuck again, displaying video from days ago. HomeKit video is working as designed, but Controller video is no longer working and I can’t find a way to request assistance.
  • 7.5.5 Full of freeze bugs

I’ve been using this app off and on but every now and then there’s an update and more bugs appear. The reason I want it to work is the better overview and more options to set automation terms etc than Apple HomeApp. I have my entire 3 plan home automated since 10 years back with mainly Hue lights but also Eve, Fibaro etc etc. Current example. I select automations and use a filter. After deleting one obsolete old preset for a Switch, the app freezes. I’m giving up again.
  • Possibly the largest problem to HomeKit

I have invested a considerable amount of time researching the persistent HomeKit issues I've encountered, tracking over 96 troubleshooting steps to resolve various problems. One major complication involves the Controller app, which consistently defaults its settings back to iCloud. Although the Controller app provides the option to restore iCloud settings, my findings indicate that every automation created within the Controller app, while synchronized to iCloud, becomes stable once iCloud accessibility for the Controller is disabled. Additionally, I've observed that various scenes revert to their previous states from the previous day after changes have been made. This issue subsided once the controller was deprived of access to iCloud. Upon doing so, devices exhibited increased stability and responsiveness, resulting in fewer issues. It remains unclear precisely what specific changes occurred or when they happened. Still, I suspect that introducing workflows—particularly those utilizing a home hub for processing—has contributed to these instabilities. The Advanced Automations that Workflows offered are only to be comparable to the third-party open-source software capabilities on the Homey platform, particularly via an application called HomeKitty. However, using Workflows developed via of Controller presented significant challenges. Whether utilizing an older Apple TV or a newer model, even with a one-gigabit Cat 6E wired connection and 1Gig Ethernet port, I found that instability arose daily, reoccurring between 12 to 24 hours or with 6 or more rapid Workflows triggered, necessitating frequent restarts or manual switching to different home hubs. After systematically eliminating Controller from my scenes by disabling all workflows and manual home hub selection, HomeKit remained unstable until I altogether revoked Controller’s access. This application initially demonstrated outstanding potential for enhancing HomeKit functionality. However, I am still verifying my findings; if confirmed, I intend to revise my review accordingly, as the issues I have faced have led to a staggering increase in my utility bill by $200 per month due to utilization in the HVAC unit, which ecobee described as something they've never seen before in HomeKit diagnostics. Controller consistently overrides the ecobee thermostat settings, forcing temperatures up to 74°F and 76°F, despite my programming specifying 72°F. Similarly, when cooling, the system would cool to 68°F while HomeKit inaccurately reflects a temperature of 74°F, causing the cooling to persist. In discussions with developers from Homey, ecobee, and Meross, it has become evident that the focus of these issues is primarily linked to the Controller app. Therefore, my current guidance is to avoid using this application until the developers comprehensively investigate why their program continuously overrides and reverts saved changes, leading to significant instability with home hubs. I will provide further updates in due course.

  • Guided Access in Hub Mode

This app is great and is a great solution to the problem of a motion event triggering my camera to automatically show a live feed on my device. The solution is workflows. Although there is an issue with when combined with Guided Access. When “kiosk mode” is enabled the openUrl action doesn’t open my camera feed. This could be due to this action seemingly opening a “popup” within the controller app and kiosk mode not allowing any popups, despite the fact that it is still within the same app. Question to the developers, is there a way to fix this? Can opening a camera feed via this method be accomplished with this popup style event? Is there a known workaround? Is this expected behavior or something that iOS needs to implement. Any feedback here is appreciated. Thank you for your hard work.

HomeKit is not functional. Don’t waste your money on Eve cameras. They don’t work. HomeKit frequently fails and there is no consistency with operation of any components. Wasted money and time
  • Not free

Why would you make this not free and accessible to those who dont want to add another subscription to the 10+ they already have. This isn’t some high tech app it’s just regular controls, no reason to pay for the entire thing.

I needed to try Hub mode and was very interested after watching Shane’s review on YouTube. I could not get “Hub mode” working on AppleTV, despite what the screenshots advertise. And now support’s ‘ghosting’ me…. And I already paid for 1 year! SMH

I did not know you had to have a dedicated Apple TV in order to use this program. Unfortunately a purchased 99.00 subscription and no way to get a refund.
