HelloTalk is such a great app. I loved how it lets me filter by country as I am interested in Colombian Spanish. They would also let you filter the English level of your partner. Now in a recent update they have put those features behind a paywall. Why so greedy?? Do you not make enough money already? This is a huge disappointment and takes away real utility for the language learning community as a whole. I refuse to pay money for VIP. What has this left me with? Having to scroll through all sorts of countries and experience levels that don’t apply to me and to maybe find someone to reach out to 1 in 20 times. The HelloTalk developers have a special talent of making THE MOST UNOPTIMIZED APP known to man. This has always been a problem. A year ago, simply scrolling through the list of people to connect to would make my iPhone 13 Pro heat up and then thermothrottle. I notice 2 or 3 months ago that this was significantly reduced. Well, upon the implementation of their new GUI and money grab scheme, we are back to the horrible optimization as before. I have to take my phone case off and wick heat away with my hands on the hot parts of my phone when looking for partners… why. Why did you regress HelloTalk. I much used to prefer HelloTalk over Tandam but seeing how Tandam still lets you filter by country for free I’m going to try that out instead. Oh, and my phone doesn’t turn into an oven while using it!

I consider HelloTalk one of the best apps for language learning. I’ve been using it for many years and have seen through countless changes which I mostly never had problems with. Except, recently the app’s soft light color palette in the voice room changed into “loud” pinks, purples, and blues. This hurts the eye, it’s quite uncomfortable and I can’t bear look at my screen for any longer than 2-5 minutes. Please be considerate of your user inclusivity. This goes to the message bubbles, the sender’s bubble to be specific, is a bit too dark, the previous color was good. Thank you!
  • Keeps trying to dump my clipboard contents

As soon as I open this app I am prompted to either allow or disallow pasting my clipboard contents. I click disallow and it triggers again. The only situation where it should be asking for this is if I want to paste my clipboard contents

Почему мне не выдали бесплатный вип за приглашение друзей? Они скачали приложение через мою ссылку и зарегестрировалась

I never made a review in my whole life I feel the people on there are don’t like americas and don’t even want to help. Or they want to flirt with and skin color plays a part of it to I just want to learn a language and they just want to be racist and don’t want to help you and they don’t like Americans. And it’s frustrating and tiring I feel like it doesn’t matter where you from and the color of skin shouldn’t matter. And they be looking for friendship and relationships nobody is there for that came here to learn a language…:( and they don’t like helping you on there.
